GINGER - will relieve symptoms with its anti-inflammatory properties and ability to prevent a cold from getting worse. Slice into hot water with lemon for a tasty "tea" with the added benefit of Vitamin C
From your natural food store or Amazon.com or Vitacost.com, purchase the following items to replace commercial cold "remedies". Instead of masking cold symptoms with products like DayQuil, go deeper and address the root of the issue. These items are the raw ingredients or concepts most of them are based off of, but in a very limited and processed way.
OREGANO OIL - more conveniently taken in capsule form, oregano oil is my secret for nipping a cold QUICK. Its antiviral, antibacterial, and anti fungal. It will kill whatever is in there before it gets any worse.
ELDERBERRY SYRUP- super high in vitamin C and antioxidants, it will help prevent a bug when taken preventatively, and it will soothe a cough and sore throat when its too late.
ZINC - has been long said to shorten the duration and severity of colds. While there are contradicting studies -as in most natural remedies- I still personally up my zinc when I get sick.
CURCUMIN - is the compound in turmeric that gives the root its anti-inflammatory property. When we're sick, a lot is inflamed; our throat, sinuses, and our heads. Taking a curcumin supplement will help relieve some pressure from the inside.
